For Immediate Release
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. – April 30, 2009 – The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA), the largest national association representing professional truckers, has become a corporate sponsor of the St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund (SCF). A $10,000 donation will go to this not-for-profit organization, which provides assistance to professional truck drivers with medical problems.
Help provided by St. Christopher may come in the form of negotiating price reductions with insurance companies, medical providers or hospitals. In some circumstances, assistance may be provided in paying for medical bills or prescription drugs, or with expenses while recovering from illness and out of work. SCF was incorporated in 2007 and also conducts health research to benefit professional drivers and the trucking industry.
Jim Johnston, OOIDA President, said “On behalf of our Association’s board of directors, we are thankful such an organization exists, and more than glad to become a corporate sponsor. We know we have members who are in need of help and have even referred some of them to the St. Christopher organization.”
