3/5/09-A bill has died that sought to prohibit the use of wireless communication devices while driving.
SF63 remained in the House Judiciary Committee at a deadline to advance, effectively killing it for the year. The Senate previously approved it.
The bill would have banned the use of text messaging devices while at the wheel. Violators would have faced $200 fines and/or 20 days in jail.

2/13/09-The Senate voted 18-12 to approve a bill that would prohibit the use of wireless communication devices while driving. It now moves to the House.
SF63 would ban use of text messaging devices while at the wheel. Violators faced $200 fines and/or 20 days in jail.

1/29/09-The Legislature’s Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee unanimously approved a bill that would prohibit the use of wireless communication devices while driving.
