Sponsored by Senate Transportation Chairman John Carona, R-Dallas, Senate Joint Resolution 8 called for indexing the state’s 20-cent-per-gallon fuel tax to inflation. The tax rate would be adjusted Oct. 1 of each year.
The proposed amendment to the state’s Constitution would require voter approval.
