8/6/09-Rep. Michael DeBose, D-Cleveland, has introduced a bill that would prohibit people from reading, typing or sending text messages while driving.
Under HB261, violations would be a secondary offense. Offenders would face $250 fines. If drivers are involved in crashes they would face an automatic license suspension.
Exceptions would be made for law enforcement and operators of emergency vehicles.
