5/6/09-A bill died in a conference committee that was intended to encourage truckers to reduce the amount of time they spending idling their trucks.
Sponsored by Rep. Dennis Avery, D-Evansville, HB1064 called for increasing the maximum weight limit for large trucks equipped with idle reduction technology. Trucks equipped with auxiliary power units would have been authorized to weigh up to an additional 400 pounds.
House and Senate lawmakers weren’t able to reach agreement on a provision added to HB1064 in the Senate to include extending the total gross weight of vehicles transporting ocean-going containers from 90,000 pounds to 95,000 pounds.
3/13/09-A bill in the Senate Homeland Security and Transportation & Veterans Affairs Committee is intended to encourage truckers to reduce the amount of time they spending idling their trucks. The House already approved it.

2/9/09-The House voted 97-0 to advance a bill to the Senate that is intended to encourage truckers to reduce the amount of time they spending idling their trucks.

The bill is awaiting assignment to committee in the Senate.
