Previously S2282, the new rule prohibits local governments from applying the accident-response fee on drivers, owners of vehicles or insurance providers for emergency personnel responding to a vehicle accident. The ban does not affect ambulance services.
5/20/09-House lawmakers voted 102-15 to advance a “crash fees” bill to the governor that would prohibit counties and cities from charging a response fee when police and fire personnel respond to vehicle accidents. The Senate already approved it by unanimous consent.
