Attention New York Members:
Contact the Ways and Means Committee of the NY Assembly
Assemblyman William Magnarelli, D-Syracuse, introduced a measure last year that would rid the state of the truck mileage tax – also known as the ton-mile tax. The nearly 60-year old levy is applied to vehicles with maximum gross weights exceeding 18,000 pounds operating in the state. Supporters of the bill point out that New York is the only state in the region to administer the tax. Elimination of the tax would benefit truckers, manufacturers, shippers and consumers.
Contact the Ways and Means Committee of the Assembly ASAP and let them know you support repeal of the “Ton-Mile Tax” in NY, Assembly Bill A421. Here is a link to the committee names list, from there you will find their email addresses under their photograph on the right side. Ways & Means Committee New York - Take action quickly as there is only a short window of time left to contact them before their session is over.
