7/22/08-A bill in the Senate Transportation Committee would prohibit double-trailer truck combinations on certain portions of U.S. Route 206 in Mercer and Somerset counties.
Sponsored by Sen. Christopher Bateman, R-Somerset, S1700 would prohibit double-trailer truck combos on Route 206 from its intersection with Princeton Pike in Mercer County to its intersection with Somerset Street in Somerset County.
Violators would face fines of $500. Repeat offenders would face $1,000 fines, while subsequent offenses would be $2,000 fines.
An identical bill – A2217 – is in the Assembly Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities Committee.
