8/6/08-A bill in the House Transportation Committee would authorize counties to impose a county real estate transfer tax of up to 25 cents per $500 worth of property. Local voter approval would be required for passage.
Sponsored by Rep. Gabe Leland, D-Detroit, HB6324 would mandate that all fees collected be used solely for road work, public transit, rail service and landscaping.
