7/10/08-Gov. Bobby Jindal signed a bill into law that prohibits red-light citations generated by enforcement cameras from being recorded as part of individuals’ driving records for insurance purposes.
Previously SB74, the new rule takes effect Aug. 15.
6/18/08-The House voted 93-5 to approve a bill that would prohibit red-light citations generated by enforcement cameras from being recorded as part of individuals’ driving records for insurance purposes.
Sponsored by Sen. Derrick Shepherd, D-Marrero, SB74 now moves to Gov. Bobby Jindal’s desk. The Senate already approved it.

6/10/08-The House Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee approved a bill that would require that drivers ticketed when traffic cameras catch motorists running red lights not have the violations become part of their driving records for insurance purposes.
Sponsored by Sen. Derrick Shepherd, D-Marrero, SB74 is awaiting final approval on the House floor. If approved there, it would move to Gov. Bobby Jindal’s desk. The Senate already approved it.
