5/21/08-Gov. Charlie Crist is calling for the state’s 15.6-cent-per-gallon tax on gas to be reduced by 10 cents for two weeks in July.
The governor said the price break would help tourism.
Despite the unwillingness by state lawmakers to go along, Crist has vowed to continue his pursuit of the price break.
Lawmakers approved a similar tax holiday in 2004. The then-14.3 cent per gallon was cut by 8 cents for one month. That move cost the state about $60 million.
